This course provides enrichment and accelerationfor ninth and tenth grade honor students with special interestsin science and math. Students are guided throughcomprehensive studies of the cell, genetics, andsystems. A survey of the six kingdoms includesrepresentative dissections. Students receive opportunitiesto participate in guided laboratory activitiesas well as independent studies to increase theircritical thinking skills and laboratory techniques. Thiscourse will prepare students for Chemistry I Honors, AP Biology, IB Biology and Algebra II.Prerequisite: Geometry
- This course is the first year of a two year course within the International Baccalaureate Organization’s Diploma Programme. The International Baccalaureate Biology Programme provides the individual with an opportunity to explore the universe of the small from the realm of the molecular. The journey continues into the realm of the large; encompassing global environmental and global biome issues. The IB Programme facilitates the opportunity to develop the cognitive ability of the individual through the use of a college preparatory curriculum and focus on critical thinking skills necessary to explore diverse strategies in the experimental sciences on an international stage.
